- Bridges | East Madison Dental
Ready to Experience the EMD Difference? 立即预订 What is a dental bridge? A dental bridge is a fixed restoration that replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring a false tooth to the natural teeth or implants on either side of the gap. How does it work? Your dentist prepares the supporting teeth, takes an impression, and designs a bridge that's custom-fit and cemented into place, filling the gap with a replacement tooth that blends naturally with the rest of your smile. What are the benefits ? Restores your ability to chew and speak comfortably Prevents surrounding teeth from shifting into the gap Natural-looking and fixed in place, no removal needed Typically completed in just a couple of visits FAQS How long does a dental bridge last? With good care, a dental bridge can last 10 to 15 years or longer. Regular checkups and good oral hygiene help maximize its lifespan. Is getting a bridge painful? The area is numbed during preparation, so the process is comfortable. Some mild sensitivity afterward is normal and typically fades within a few days. Do I need to care for a bridge differently than natural teeth? Bridges require special attention to cleaning underneath the false tooth, and we'll show you how to use floss threaders or a water flosser to keep the area clean and healthy. What's the difference between a bridge and an implant? A bridge relies on neighboring teeth for support, while an implant is anchored directly into the jawbone and doesn't involve altering adjacent teeth. Your dentist can help you decide which fits your needs and budget. Invisalign is a clear aligner system that gradually straightens your teeth using a series of custom, virtually invisible trays, without the brackets and wires of traditional braces. We also offer SureSmile as an alternative clear aligner system, depending on your needs. How does it work? Using a digital scan of your teeth, your dentist maps out your entire treatment plan and designs a series of custom aligners. You wear each set for about one to two weeks, gradually shifting your teeth into their final position. What are the benefits ? Virtually invisible, so most people won't notice you're wearing them Removable for eating, brushing, and flossing Fewer office visits than traditional braces in many cases See a preview of your final smile before you even begin How long does Invisalign treatment take? Treatment time varies by case, typically ranging from several months to around a year and a half, depending on how much correction is needed. Do I have to wear my aligners all the time? For best results, aligners should be worn 20 to 22 hours a day, removing them only to eat, drink anything other than water, and clean your teeth. Is Invisalign as effective as traditional braces? For most cases of mild to moderate misalignment, Invisalign is highly effective. Your dentist will let you know during your consultation if your specific case is well-suited for aligners. Will Invisalign be uncomfortable? You may feel mild pressure for a couple of days after switching to a new set of aligners, which is a normal sign that your teeth are moving. It's generally far more comfortable than traditional braces. - Crowns | East Madison Dental
What is a dental crown? A dental crown is a custom-made cap that covers a damaged, weakened, or heavily decayed tooth, restoring its strength, shape, and function. How does it work? Your dentist reshapes the tooth to make room for the crown, takes a digital scan, and designs a crown that fits precisely over it. Thanks to same-day CEREC® technology, many crowns can be milled and placed in a single visit. What are the benefits ? Restores strength and function to a damaged tooth Protects a weakened tooth from further breakage Blends naturally with your surrounding teeth Same-day options available with no temporary crown needed FAQS How long do crowns last? With good care, crowns typically last 10 to 15 years, and many last much longer. Avoiding excessive grinding or using your teeth as tools helps extend their lifespan. Do I need a crown, or would a filling work? Crowns are generally recommended when a tooth has extensive decay, a large existing filling, or a crack, since fillings alone can't provide the same strength and support in these cases. Will my crown look natural? Yes. Crowns are custom-shaded and shaped to blend seamlessly with your surrounding teeth, whether made from all-ceramic, porcelain, or other tooth-colored materials. Can I get my crown in one visit? In many cases, yes. Using our CEREC® same-day technology, we can design and mill your crown in-office, eliminating the need for a temporary crown and a second visit. - All on X | East Madison Dental
认识 我们的 创始人 Ready to Experience the EMD Difference? 立即预订 What is All on X? All on X (also known as All-on-4®) is a full-arch tooth replacement solution that uses a small number of strategically placed implants, often four, to support an entire arch of fixed, natural-looking replacement teeth. How does it work? Your dentist places implants into the jawbone at precise angles to maximize stability, often using existing bone without the need for grafting. A full arch of custom teeth is then attached, sometimes on the very same day. What are the benefits ? Replaces a full arch of missing or failing teeth Fixed in place, unlike removable dentures Preserves jawbone health and facial structure Many patients leave with a functional smile the same day FAQS How is All on X different from traditional dentures? Unlike removable dentures that rest on the gums, All on X is permanently anchored to implants, so it doesn't slip, requires no adhesives, and feels and functions much more like natural teeth. Am I a candidate for All on X? Many patients qualify even with significant bone loss, since the implants are placed at angles that work with your existing bone. A consultation and 3D imaging will confirm if it's right for you. How long does the process take? In many cases, patients leave with a functional temporary set of teeth the same day as surgery, with a final, refined restoration placed a few months later once healing is complete. Is the procedure painful? The surgery is performed under anesthesia, so you won't feel pain during the procedure. Some swelling and discomfort afterward is normal and managed with medication and aftercare guidance. - Composite Veneers | East Madison Dental
FAQS How long do composite veneers last? Composite veneers generally last 5 to 7 years with good care, though they may need touch-ups sooner than porcelain due to their softer material. Are composite veneers as strong as porcelain? Composite is durable but more prone to staining and chipping over time compared to porcelain. Many patients choose composite for a faster, more budget-friendly option, then consider porcelain later if desired. Can composite veneers stain? Yes, composite is more porous than porcelain, so it can pick up stains from coffee, tea, or wine over time. We'll advise you on care to help maintain their appearance. Is the process painful? Not typically. Composite veneers usually require little to no removal of tooth structure, and most patients need no numbing at all. What are composite veneers? Composite veneers use tooth-colored resin sculpted directly onto your teeth to improve their shape, size, or color, offering a more affordable, same-day alternative to porcelain veneers. What are the benefits ? - Porcelain Veneers | East Madison Dental
How does it work? Your dentist prepares a thin layer of the tooth's surface (or, with no-prep options, little to none), takes a digital impression, and designs veneers matched to your desired shape and shade. Once crafted, the veneers are permanently bonded to your teeth for a seamless, lasting result. What are the benefits ? Corrects chips, gaps, stains, and misshapen teeth in one treatment Long-lasting and highly stain-resistant Natural-looking, light-reflecting like real enamel No-prep options available for a more conservative approach FAQS How long do porcelain veneers last? With proper care, porcelain veneers typically last 10 to 15 years or longer. Good oral hygiene and avoiding habits like nail-biting or chewing ice will help them last. Do veneers require special care? Veneers don't need much beyond your normal brushing and flossing routine. We do recommend avoiding excessive force, like using your teeth to open packages, to protect them long term. Are veneers reversible? Traditional porcelain veneers require removing a small amount of enamel, which makes the process not reversible. If reversibility matters to you, ask us about our no-prep veneer options. How many veneers do I need? It depends on your goals. Some patients choose just a few to correct specific teeth, while others opt for a full set across their smile line for a more dramatic transformation. - Crown Lengthening | East Madison Dental
Is crown lengthening only cosmetic? Not always. It's often used cosmetically to reduce a gummy smile, but it's also frequently necessary to expose enough healthy tooth structure before placing a crown or filling. Is the procedure painful? The area is numbed beforehand, so the procedure is comfortable. Some soreness during recovery is normal and manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. How long is recovery? Most patients heal within one to two weeks, though the gums may continue to settle into their final shape over the following weeks. Can crown lengthening be done on just one tooth? Yes, it can be performed on a single tooth or across several, depending on whether your goals are cosmetic, restorative, or both. Aesthetic crown lengthening reshapes gum and, when needed, bone tissue to expose more of the natural tooth, correcting a gummy smile or preparing a tooth for a restoration. How does it work? Your dentist carefully removes excess gum tissue, and occasionally a small amount of bone, to reveal more of the tooth's crown, improving both the smile's proportion and, when needed, giving a restoration more surface to bond to. What are the benefits ? Preserves more natural tooth structure than a crown Custom-fit for a precise, comfortable bite Durable and long-lasting Available with same-day CEREC® technology FAQS What's the difference between an inlay and an onlay? An inlay fits within the grooves of the tooth's chewing surface, while an onlay extends over one or more of the tooth's cusps, covering a larger area. Your dentist determines which fits your specific damage. How do inlays and onlays differ from crowns? Inlays and onlays preserve more of your natural tooth since they don't require reshaping the entire tooth like a crown does. They're typically used for moderate damage that doesn't need full coverage. Can I get an inlay or onlay in one visit? In many cases, yes, using our same-day CEREC® technology, which designs and mills your restoration in-office without the need for a temporary or a second appointment. Pocket depth reduction is a procedure that treats the deep pockets that form between teeth and gums due to advanced gum disease, helping gums reattach more closely to teeth. How does it work? What are the benefits ? Reduces harmful bacteria hiding deep below the gumline Helps gums reattach more closely to teeth Makes future cleaning at home and in-office more effective Slows or stops the progression of periodontal disease FAQS How do I know if I need pocket depth reduction? Your dentist measures the pockets around each tooth during a periodontal exam. Pockets deeper than what a standard cleaning can reach often signal the need for this procedure. Is the procedure painful? The area is fully numbed, so the procedure itself is comfortable. Some soreness during recovery is normal and typically improves within about a week. How long does recovery take? Most patients heal within one to two weeks, with gums continuing to tighten and improve over the following weeks and months. Will I still need regular cleanings after this procedure? Yes, and typically more frequent ones.
